Erzya[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Mordvinic *lomań, wherein *-ń may be a noun-forming suffix. The further origin is unclear. Sometimes compared with Proto-Samic *olmōńčë (person, human), whence Kildin Sami олма (olma).
