Borrowed from Medieval Latin metaphysica, from Byzantine Greek μεταφυσικά (metaphusiká), from the Ancient Greek title of the collection by Aristotle τὰ μετὰ τὰ φυσικά (tà metà tà phusiká). Compare Russian метафи́зика (metafízika), Belarusian метафі́зіка (mjetafízika).
