Adyghe[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From мэлэкӏэн (mɛlɛkʼɛn, “to be hungry”) + лӏэн (lˢʼɛn, “to die”); hence literally “to starve to death”. Many Circassians use this verb to describe hungry instead of мэлэкӏэн.
