Inherited from Old East Slavic нарѣ́чиѥ (narě́čije), from Proto-Slavic *narě̀čьje. Cognate with Russian наре́чие (naréčije), Polish narzecze, Czech nářečí and Old Church Slavonic нарѣчиѥ (narěčije).
