Bulgarian[edit]

риба ороп

Etymology[edit]

Uncertain. BER tentatively draws comparison with Serbo-Croatian рапа (mudminnow), without suggesting any certain kinship.

By surface analysis, ора́ (orá, to furrow, to plough) +‎ -оп (-op), possibly implying resemblance to something spiky or pointy.
