Mongolian

Etymology

Likely from a merger of two Proto-Mongolic verbs: *seri- (to wake up) and *sere- (to notice), the second probably deriving from Proto-Turkic *seŕ- (to feel, to understand).

Compare Middle Mongol [script needed] (sere-, to notice), [script needed] (seri-, to wake up), Dongxiang xierei (to wake up), Turkish sezmek (to understand, to sense).
