Inherited from Proto-Slavic *tvorьcь. By surface analysis, твори́ти (tvorýty) +‎ -ець (-ecʹ). Compare Old Church Slavonic творьць (tvorĭcĭ), Russian творе́ц (tvoréc), Belarusian тварэ́ц (tvaréc), Polish twórca.
