[edit]Etymology
[edit]From тхьэ (tḥɛ, “God”) + бытырбыф (bətərbəf, “Petersburg”). Literally means “may God send you to Petersburg”. Saint Petersburg is a city in Russia. The Circassians used this because Saint Petersburg is far from the Caucasus and very cold. The meaning of this word is that may God send you to a place so far away (Saint Petersburg) that you may never return.
