Borrowed from Arabic عُمْر (ʕumr, life, lifespan).

Cognate with Kazakh өмір (ömır), Kyrgyz өмүр (ömür), Tatar гомер (ğomer), Uzbek umr, Azerbaijani ömür, Turkish ömür etc.
