[edit]From Middle Mongol [Han needed] (qurilta, “assembly”), from Proto-Mongolic *kurï- (“to gather, to assemble”). Compare Mongolian хурах (xurax, “to gather, to convene”), хурал (xural, “assembly”).
Cognate with Kazakh құрылтай (qūryltai, “assembly”), Crimean Tatar qurultay, Uyghur قۇرۇلتاي (qurultay), etc.
