From ӄура +‎ -ӈа. Ultimately from Proto-Chukotko-Kamchatkan *qora. Compare Kerek ӄуйаӄуй (qujaquj), Koryak ӄояӈа (qojaŋa) and Chukchi ӄораӈы (qoraŋə).
