Old Armenian[edit]

Etymology[edit]

The origin is unknown. J̌ahukyan remarks, that in view of abundance of i-stems in Urartian we may look for Urartian origin in Armenian unetymologized i-stems, such as this one.

According to Ačaṙyan, Old Georgian აკუმი(aḳumi, chair, bench; pile, heap) is borrowed from Armenian. For (-b) he compares պատշգամ(patšgam) : պատշգամբ(patšgamb), սալամ(salam) : սալամբ(salamb).
