[edit]An Iranian borrowing: compare Middle Persian [script needed] (dwl /dōl/, “bucket; Aquarius”), Persian دول (dol, “bucket”), Sanskrit दोग्ध्री (dogdhrī).
Alternatively from Classical Syriac ܕܘܠܐ (dawlāʼ, “pail, bucket; Aquarius”).
