Hebrew

Etymology

Ultimately from Wolof banaana, via various European languages. The sense a girl is presumably connected to the phonological similarity to בָּנוֹת f pl (banót).

Noun

בָּנָנָה (banánaf (plural indefinite בָּנָנוֹת, singular construct בָּנָנַת־)

  1. a banana
  2. a banana connector
  3. (slang, usually in the plural) a girl
