בת דוד
(Redirected from בת־דוד)
Hebrew
[edit]Noun
[edit]בַּת־דּוֹד • (bat-dód) f (plural indefinite בְּנוֹת־דּוֹד or בְּנוֹת־דּוֹדִים, masculine counterpart בֶּן־דּוֹד)
- A female cousin
- (specifically) The daughter of an uncle
Usage notes
[edit]- Many speakers distinguish בַּת־דּוֹד from בַּת־דּוֹדָה (bat-dodá, “aunt's daughter”), depending whether the relationship is on the cousin's father's side or his mother's side; many others, however, use בַּת־דּוֹדָה for both cases.
