יַעַר • (yá'ar) m (plural indefinite יְעָרוֹת, singular construct יַעַר־, plural construct יַעֲרֵי־) [pattern: קֶטֶל]
- A forest.
- Tanach, Psalms 96:12, with translation of the Jewish Publication Society:
- יַעֲלֹז שָׂדַי וְכָל־אֲשֶׁר־בּוֹ אָז יְרַנְּנוּ כָּל־עֲצֵי־יָעַר׃
- yaʿalóz sadái v-khol ashér bo; az y'ran'nú kol ʿatséi yáʿar
- Let the field exult; and all that is therein; Then shall all the trees of the wood sing for joy;

Usage notes[edit]
- In addition to the usual plural forms given above, the plural indefinite form יְעָרִים and plural construct form יַעֲרִי־ are also common.
