Etymology[edit]
Cognate to Arabic مَلْحَمة (malḥama, “bloody battle, war”). While the ל־ח־ם (l-ḥ-m) root in Hebrew relates to “bread”, the Arabic ل ح م (l ḥ m) and the original Proto-Semitic *laḥm- are more closely associated with “meat”.
