Verb

נִמְנַע • (nimná') (nif'al construction)

1. To refrain, avoid, abstain (from an action).
   • Tanach, Numbers 22:16, with Young's Literal Translation:

     כֹּה אָמַר בָּלָק בֶּן־צִפּוֹר, אַל־נָא תִמָּנַע מֵהֲלֹךְ אֵלָי.

     ko amár baláq ben-tzippór, al-na timmanáʿ mehalóch eláy.

     Thus said Balak son of Zippor, Be not, I pray thee, withheld from coming unto me.

   • Tanach, Job 38:15, with Young's Literal Translation:

     וְיִמָּנַע מֵרְשָׁעִים אוֹרָם; וּזְרוֹעַ רָמָה תִּשָּׁבֵר.

     vəyimmanáʿ merəša'ím orám; uzəroá' ramá tiššavér.

     And withheld from the wicked is their light, And the arm lifted up is broken.
