Etymology

Multiple theories exist as to the origin of ציון, theorized roots include ציה, צון, צוה, and צהה. Attested to in Aramaic צהיון and Classical Syriac ܨܸܗܝܘܿܢ (ṣehyōn) — sometimes considered the older form by historians.
