Verb

أَسْقَى (ʔasqā) IV, non-past يُسْقِي‎ (yusqī)

  1. (ditransitive) to give drink
    Synonyms: سَقَى (saqā), شَرَّبَ (šarraba), أَشْرَبَ (ʔašraba)
    • 609–632 CE, Qur'an, 15:22:
      وَأَرْسَلْنَا ٱلرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ ٱلسَّمَآءِ مَآءً فَأَسْقَيْنَـٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَ
      wa-ʾarsalnā r-riyāḥa lawāqiḥa fa-ʾanzalnā mina s-samāʾi māʾan fa-ʾasqaynākumūhu wa-mā ʾantum lahū bi-ḵāzinīna
      And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers.
