Etymology[edit]

Inherited from Proto-Turkic *bagïrsuk (intestines), a development of *biagïr (liver), whence باغر (bağır, epigastric region of the abdomen). Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (bagırsak, bagırsuk), Azerbaijani bağırsaq, Karakhanid بَغِرْسُقْ (bağırsuk) and Salar bağzuq.
