[Could We Upload Our Minds to a Computer?]”, in Al Watan‎[3], archived from the original on 30 August 2026:
The idea of uploading our minds to a computer or an Android device remains science fiction, and we are still far from mapping the human brain. Furthermore, we don't understand what makes us conscious, and we have no evidence that simply uploading information from the brain to a computer would generate subjective experiences. In this essay, I want to defend three points. First, uploading the mind to a computer is practically impossible. Second, even if we could upload something resembling a mind to a computer, it's highly unlikely that the uploaded "mind" would be conscious. Third, even if the uploaded mind were conscious, it would be fundamentally different from our own.

Mini Roam offers download speeds between around 5 to 50 megabits per second, and upload speeds between 2 to 10 megabits per second. In the United States, Mini Roam users with a mini-dish can expect a latency of between 30 to 40 milliseconds. As for those outside of the United States using a Mini Roam plan abroad, they may face a higher latency of between 60 to 90 milliseconds.

    Usage notes

    [edit]

In the computing sense, تَحْمِيل (taḥmīl) most literally refers to loading data. It may be used to refer to both loading data from a server (downloading), or loading data to a server (uploading; usually with [with إِلَى ‘to’] in more standard writing).

Compare with French télécharger which shares both senses, as well English download which also has a nonstandard usage in the sense of "to upload".
