Etymology[edit]
From Classical Persian جلوه (jilwa, jalwa), from Arabic جَلْوَة (jalwa).
Noun[edit]
جلوہ • (jalva, jilva, julva) m (Hindi spelling जलवा)
- splendor, luster, glory, effulgence
- (rare) the meeting of the bride and bridegroom (in the presence of their relations)
- (religious) the ceremony (among Muslims) when the bridegroom reads a chapter of the Qur'ān, and for the first time sees his wife's face in a mirror
