Etymology[edit]

From Yemeni Arabic and Egyptian Arabic of Cairo – in Alexandria and Libya one has دَزِّينَة (dazzīna, dozen), in the Gulf, Mekka and Aden دَرْزَن (darzan) –, a borrowing from Ottoman Turkish دسته (deste), from Persian دسته (dasta). Doublet of دَسْتَج (dastaj).
