Ottoman Turkish

[edit]
Denizli province

Etymology

[edit]

Morphologically from دڭز (deñiz, sea) +‎ ـلی (-li), but this is probably a mispronunciation of the older form طوڭوزلی (Doñuzlu), from طوڭوز (doñuz, pig, swine) +‎ ـلی (-lu).

Proper noun

[edit]

دڭزلی (Deñizli)

  1. Denizli (a city and province in the Aegean region, Turkey)

Descendants

[edit]
  • Turkish: Denizli
  • Armenian: Տէնիզլի (Tēnizli)
