From Classical Syriac ܙܪܝܦܐ(zārīp̄ā), variant of ܙܪܢܦܐ(zarnāp̄ā); ultimately from Persian زُرنَاپَا(zurnāpā), a compound of زُرنَا(zurnā, flute, zurna) and پَا(, leg).
