Etymology[edit]

Feminine form of the elative adjective أَفْصَح ‎(ʾafṣaḥ, purest in language, most eloquent), derived from فَصِيح ‎(faṣīḥ, pure in language, eloquent). The noun is derived from the expression لُغَة عَرَبِيَّة فُصْحَى ‎(luḡa ʿarabiyya fuṣḥā, pure Arabic language).
