Etymology

From فَظُعَ (faẓuʕa, to be abominable). Cognate to Hebrew פצע (petzaʿ, wound, injury).

فَظِيع (faẓīʕ) (feminine فَظِيعَة (faẓīʕa), masculine plural فَظِيعُونَ (faẓīʕūna) or فُظَعَاءُ (fuẓaʕāʔu), feminine plural فَظِيعَات (faẓīʕāt))
