From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kʾhwk' /kāhōk/, “lettuce”),[1] perhaps whence borrowings Mazanderani کاهوک (kâhuk), کاوک (kâuk), کهوک (kahuk, “lettuce”), ultimately of unknown origin.
