Etymology

From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (karafs /⁠klps⁠/, celery). Akin to Transoxianan Persian obsolete کرویز (karaviz), Central Kurdish کەرەوز (kerewz), Classical Syriac ܟܪܦܣܐ (kerpəsā), Hebrew כַּרְפַּס (karpás).
