From (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (gwd /⁠gōy⁠/, “ball”). Cognate with Persian گلوله (golūle, “pellet; bullet”), Central Kurdish گولە (gule) and گۆ (go, “ball”), Northern Kurdish gog (“ball”), Zazaki gudi (“ball; round”) and an Iranian loanword in Classical Syriac ܓܘܝܐ (gōyāʾ)
