Learned borrowing from Classical Syriac ܕܲܥܬܝܼܕ݂ (that which is prepared), from ܕ- (that; which) and ܥܬܝܼܕ݂ (prepared (masculine)), passive participle of the verb ܥܬܕ (to prepare).
