Borrowed from Persian نارگیل (nârgil, “coconut palm”), from Sanskrit नारिकेल (nārikela, “coconut palm”); also borrowed into Arabic نَارْجِيل (nārjīl), and Hindi नारिकेल (nārikel). Doublet of ܐܲܪܓܝܼܠܵܐ (argīlā).
