Onomatopoeic and reduplicated form of a verb reflected in Classical Syriac ܪܦܦ (to move suddenly (of birds)); compare Arabic رَفْرَفَ (rafrafa) and Classical Syriac ܪܦܪܦ (to flutter, to move back and forth).
