अभितस् (abhítas)

  1. on all sides, all around
    • c. 1700 BCE – 1200 BCE, Ṛgveda 1.105.8:
saṃ mā tapanty abhitaḥ sapatnīriva parśavaḥ .
mūṣo na śiśnā vyadanti mādhya stotāraṃ te śatakrato vittaṃ me asya rodasī .
Like rival wives, on every side, enclosing ribs oppress me sore.
O Śatakratu, biting cares devour me, singer of thy praise, like mice devour the weaver's threads. Mark this my woe, ye Earth and Heaven.
    • c. 1200 BCE – 800 BCE, Kṛṣṇa-Yajurveda (Taittirīya Saṃhitā) IV.5.1.7:
yé cemā́ṃ rudrā́ abhíto dikṣú śritā́ḥ sahasraśóʼvaiṣāṃ héḍa īmahe.
And the thousands of Rudras who lie around this earth in the quarters
      Their wrath do we deprecate.
