Borrowed from Classical Persian قیچی (qayčī), from Chagatai [Term?], from Proto-Mongolic *kaïcï, compare Mongolian хайч (xajč). Compare Assamese কেঁচি (kẽsi), Bengali কাঁচি (kãci).
