(deprecated template usage) From Proto-Indo-Aryan *bʰanákti, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *bʰanákti, from Proto-Indo-European *bʰ-né-g-ti, nasal infix present of *bʰeg-.[1] Cognate with Manichaean Middle Persian bxt-gyh (“conflict, division”), Manichaean Sogdian [script needed] (βxt-wnyy, “schism, discord”).[2]
