Etymology[edit]
Inherited from Sauraseni Prakrit *𑀪𑀻𑀟 (*bhīḍa) (compare 𑀪𑀻𑀟𑀤𑀺 (bhīḍadi, “to meet, fight”)), from Ashokan Prakrit *𑀪𑀺𑀝𑁆 (*bhiṭ).
