      अव स्थिरा मघवद्भ्यस्तनुष्व मीढ्वस्तोकाय तनयाय मृळ ॥
      pari ṇo hetī rudrasya vṛjyāḥ pari tveṣasya durmatirmahī gāt.
      ava sthirā maghavadbhyastanuṣva mīḍhvastokāya tanayāya mṛḷa.
      May Rudra's missile turn aside and spare us, may the great wrath of the impetuous One avoid us.
      O Bounteous God, turn thy strong bow from our princes, and be thou gracious to our seed and offspring.
    • c. 1200 BCE – 800 BCE, Kṛṣṇa-Yajurveda (Taittirīya Saṃhitā) IV.5.1.9:
      नमो॑ अस्तु॒ नील॑ग्रीवाय सहस्रा॒क्षाय॑ मी॒ढुषे॓
      अथो॒ ये अ॑स्य॒ सत्वा॑नो॒ऽहं तेभ्यो॑ऽकर॒न्नमः॑ ॥
      námo astu nī́lagrīvāya sahasrākṣā́ya mīḍhúṣé॓.
      átho yé asya sátvānoʼháṃ tébhyoʼkarannámaḥ.
      Homage to the blue-necked, to the Thousand-eyed one, to the bountiful.
      And to those that are his warriors I have paid my homage.
