Ultimately from Sanskrit लवपुरी (lavapurī) from लव (lava, “Lava (Ramayana)”) +‎ पुरी (purī), which could also the ultimate source of ลพบุรี (lóp-bù-rii, “Lopburi”, city in Thailand).
