    From Proto-Indo-Aryan *saptá, from Proto-Indo-Iranian *saptá, from Proto-Indo-European *septḿ̥. Cognate with Avestan 𐬵𐬀𐬞𐬙𐬀 (hapta), Persian هفت (haft), Latin septem, Ancient Greek ἑπτά (heptá), and Old English seofon (whence English seven).[1]

        Waters, the worshipper addresses to you excellent praise in the dwelling of the instrumental tutor of the rite;
        they flowed by sevens through the three worlds; but the Sindhu surpasses all the other streams in strength.
