Etymology

Borrowed from English wool, from Proto-Germanic *wullō, ultimately from Proto-Indo-European *h₂wĺ̥h₁neh₂. Doublet of ঊণ (un) and ঊর্ণা (urna), via Proto-Indo-Iranian *Hwŕ̥HnaH and Sanskrit ऊर्णा (ūrṇā). Compare Sylheti ꠃꠟ (ul) and Odia ଉଲ (ula).
