Inherited from Sanskrit টঙ্ক (ṭaṅka, leg), of perhaps Munda extraction. Cognate with Nepali टाङ (ṭāṅ) / टाँग (ṭā̃g), Hindi टांग / Urdu ٹانگ (ṭāṅg).
