Etymology[edit]
Denominalized from the verb বুড়া (buṛa, “to sink”), from Prakrit 𑀩𑀼𑀟𑁆𑀟𑀇 (buḍḍaï), from Sanskrit बुड्यति (buḍyati), possibly of onomatopoeic origin. Doublet of ডুবা (ḍuba).
