Borrowed from Classical Persian حاضر (hāzir), from Arabic حَاضِر (ḥāḍir). Compare Assamese হাজিৰ (hazir), Hindustani हाज़िर (hāzir), Gujarati હાજર (hājar), Marathi हजर (hajar), Punjabi ਹਾਜ਼ਰ (hāzar).
