Inherited from Old Gujarati वाणीउा, वाणीडु (vāṇīḍu), from Prakrit 𑀯𑀸𑀡𑀺𑀅𑀬 (vāṇiaya), from Sanskrit वाणिज (vāṇijá), from वणिज् (vaṇíj, merchant, trader).
