Inherited from Old Gujarati सरस (sarasa, tasty), from Prakrit 𑀲𑀭𑀲 (sarasa), from Sanskrit सरस (sárasa, juicy). Cognate with Hindustani سَرَس / सरस (saras), Marathi सरस (saras), Odia ସରସ (sarasa), and Sindhi سَرَهو (saraho).
