Telugu[edit]

Etymology[edit]

From Sanskrit राष्ट्र (rāṣṭra) + पति (pati), probably a direct borrowing from Hindi राष्ट्रपति (rāṣṭrapti).

Pronunciation[edit]

Noun[edit]

రాష్ట్రపతి (rāṣṭrapati? (plural రాష్ట్రపతులు)

  1. president [of India]

Usage notes[edit]

This word is usually used for the President of India, while అధ్యక్షుడు (adhyakṣuḍu) and దేశాధ్యక్షుడు (dēśādhyakṣuḍu) are more commonly used for the presidents of other countries (see Rashtrapati for a similar usage pattern).
