[edit]Borrowed from Pali meghālaya (literally “abode of clouds”), ultimately from Sanskrit เมฆาลย (meghālaya), from เมฆ (megha) + อาลย (ālaya). By surface analysis, เมฆ (mêek) + อาลัย (aa-lai).
