From Proto-Mon-Khmer *n₁uum ~ *kn₁uum (“urine; to urinate”). Cognate with Semai nòòm (“urine”), Khmer នោម (noom, “urine; to urinate”) and Eastern Mnong nôm (“to urinate”).
